Pettinhouse FAQ
1. DOWNLOAD AND FILES
Q: Can I download all the files at once?
A: It is strongly recommended not to download all files at once. Large downloads can easily get corrupted if the connection is unstable. Download one or two files at a time. If needed, use a download manager.
Q: The files are in .rar format. What is that?
A: .rar is a compressed format similar to .zip but more efficient for large sample libraries.
Q: How do I extract the .rar files?
A:
Windows: Use 7-Zip or WinRAR.
macOS: Use The Unarchiver.
Right click the first .rar file and extract. The software will rebuild the whole folder automatically.
Q: A .rar file does not open or gives an error. What should I do?
A: This almost always means a corrupted download. Delete that file and download it again.
Q: Are your servers slow?
A: The libraries are hosted on a professional AWS server. If you experience slow speed, it usually means many users are downloading at once or your connection is unstable. Try again later.
Q: Can I download on mobile?
A: It is recommended to download on a desktop or laptop, not on phones or tablets.
Q: Can I download again if I lose the files?
A: Always make a backup on an external drive.
If you lose the files due to a computer crash, write to info at pettinhouse.com
with all the following details:
Your full name or your company name if you purchased the products under a company name,
Or the name/email of the person who purchased,
The transaction ID.
I will verify your order and resend the links.
2. INSTALLATION AND KONTAKT BASICS
Q: Do I need to “install” these libraries like Native Instruments products?
A: No. These are third-party full Kontakt libraries without serial numbers. They do not appear in Native Access and they do not show in Kontakt’s Library tab.
Q: How do I load the library in Kontakt?
A:
Drag the .nki file directly into Kontakt.
In Kontakt 7, 8 and future versions: File → Load.
In Kontakt 6: click the floppy disk icon.
Q: Why do I not see the library in the “Libraries” tab?
A: Only Kontakt Player libraries with a serial number appear there. Pettinhouse libraries require the full version of Kontakt, so they must be loaded manually.
Q: Can I move the library to another drive?
A: Yes. After moving, if Kontakt reports missing samples, click Browse for folder and select the new main folder.
Q: How do I move the library to a new computer?
A: Copy the entire library folder (samples, .nki, graphics, scripts) and load the .nki as usual.
3. KONTAKT VERSION AND COMPATIBILITY
Q: Do I need the full version of Kontakt?
A: Yes. All Pettinhouse libraries require the full version of Kontakt. Kontakt Player will run them in Demo Mode.
Q: Will it work in Kontakt Player anyway?
A: In Player, the library works only in time-limited Demo Mode with a red DEMO warning. This limitation is from Native Instruments.
Q: What Kontakt version do I need?
A: Check each product page, but in general you need a recent 64-bit full version of Kontakt.
Q: Are the libraries compatible with my DAW?
A: If your DAW can load Kontakt (VST, VST3, AU, AAX), the libraries will work.
Q: Do the libraries work on Apple Silicon?
A: Yes. If Kontakt runs correctly on Apple Silicon, the libraries will run too, because they depend on Kontakt, not on the OS architecture.
4. DEMO MODE, AUTHORIZATION AND ERRORS
Q: I own the full version of Kontakt, but it still shows “DEMO MODE”. Why?
A: There are only two causes:
You launched Kontakt Player by mistake.
The full version of Kontakt is not properly activated in Native Access.
To fix this, search on Google using these queries:
“Kontakt full version showing demo mode fix”
“Kontakt Player vs Kontakt Full difference”
“Native Access not activating Kontakt solution”
“Kontakt demo mode problem full version”
These searches cover all known causes.
Q: Kontakt says “Missing samples” when loading the patch.
A: This happens when the library was moved or renamed. Use Browse for folder and select the correct library folder.
Q: Kontakt crashes or uses a lot of CPU with this library. What can I do?
A:
CPU spikes and crashes come from Kontakt itself, not from the library. A library is just:
audio samples,
graphics,
KSP scripts.
It cannot modify Kontakt’s engine, memory management, audio drivers or system processes.
A library cannot cause a crash, only Kontakt or the host DAW can.
Try these standard solutions:
Increase the audio buffer size.
Close heavy plugins or background applications.
Update Kontakt to the latest version in Native Access.
Use an SSD, not a slow hard drive.
Reload Kontakt or your DAW.
For general troubleshooting, search on Google:
“Kontakt crashing fix”
“Kontakt high CPU usage solution”
“Kontakt overload audio buffer problem”
“Kontakt freezes in DAW how to fix”
5. USING THE LIBRARIES
Q: Are there instructions for keyswitches, MIDI controls and special functions?
A:
Yes. Each library includes documentation in one of these forms:
A PDF Manual,
A How-to folder inside the library,
A Guide or ? button inside the Kontakt interface.
Each explains keyswitches, articulations, strumming features and special controls.
6. LICENSE AND RIGHTS
Q: Can I use the libraries in commercial projects?
A: Yes. You may use them in albums, films, TV, games, YouTube, advertising and any other commercial production.
Q: Can I resell, share or redistribute the samples?
A: No. You are purchasing a license for personal use. You cannot share, repack, or distribute the samples or .nki files.
Q: Can I install the library on more than one computer?
A: Yes, as long as you are the only user.
(Removed the multi-user clause, as requested.)
7. ORDERS, PAYMENTS AND REFUNDS
Q: How do I receive the download links after purchasing?
A: You receive an automatic email with your download links immediately after payment.
Check your spam / junk / promotions folder if you don’t see it.
Q: I didn’t receive my download email. What should I do?
A:
Check your spam or promotions folder.
Make sure you typed the correct email address at checkout.
If the email is missing, send a message to info at pettinhouse.com
including:
Your full name,
Company name (if applicable),
Or the name/email of the person who purchased,
The email used at checkout,
The transaction ID.
Q: Are the products refundable?
A: No. All products are non-refundable. These are instant-delivery digital products without serial number protection. Once downloaded, access cannot be revoked.
Q: I bought a library but I only have Kontakt Player. Can I get a refund?
A: No. The full Kontakt requirement is clearly stated on the product page, next to the Buy button, on the checkout page and again in the confirmation email.
If you upgrade to the full version of Kontakt, the library will work with no limitations.
8. SUPPORT
Q: How long does it take to receive help for order-related issues?
A: I answer as soon as possible on business days. Order-related support (links, missing files, purchase verification) is always available: info at pettinhouse.com
